Ford Transit Van Wins UK Reliability Survey

Everybody knows that Ford Transit is Britain’s favorite van, and now it’s also Britain's most reliable van according to an authoritative survey of more than one million vehicles. The Transit got the award for the third year in a row. Ford had a lot of celebrating to do, as the Transit Connect came in third place.

This survey, published by Fleet News magazine, was put together with the help of UK’s most important leasing companies, which together operate over 1,000,000 vehicles. This year, the survey covered 840,000 cars and 183,000 light commercial vehicles, so judging by the huge number of vehicles involved, the results are very important.

This survey is the largest of its kind in the country and is based on feedback from those who really know about the reliability of vehicles – people who run hundreds of thousands of vehicles over many hundreds of thousands of miles,” said Stephen Briers, editor of Fleet News.

"Ford models have led the commercial vehicle market for 44 years. Their reliability record is of paramount importance, so I'm delighted by this Ford endorsement from top UK fleets," said Steve Kimber, Ford of Britain commercial vehicle director.

The first Ford Transit was introduced in October 1965, and has been in continuous production to the present day. The van was produced initially at Ford's Langley facility in Berkshire, England, a former Second World War aircraft factory which had produced Hawker Hurricane fighters. The demand outstripped the capability of the plant, so production was moved to Southampton, where it has remained ever since.
