Next year, Ford is set to replace the E-Series range of full-sized vans with the Transit, with the main asset of the new development being an increased level of efficiency. The Blue Oval will achieve this by using it’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 petrol unit, but it also has another move up its sleeve: the reintroduction of a diesel engine. However, the company hasn’t offered details on which powerplant will be used to power the van.
However, the automotive producer claims that a weight advantage of more than 300 lbs, together with the new engines will offer the US Transit a 25 percent bump in fuel efficiency compared to the E-Series range.

Ford went as far as developing a software called “Vehicle Emissions and Fuel Cost Calculator”, which uses data such as vehicle type and driving conditions to show customers the situation of their fuel costs and carbon emissions.
