If you are into muscle cars, you probably know about the Dodge Charger Daytona and the Plymouth Superbird NASCAR legends. In response to those cars, Ford created the Torino King Cobra. Sadly, it never went into production, but you can now buy one of the three prototypes on eBay.
The fierce competition to achieve better aerodynamics for NASCAR vehicles back in the ‘70s led to some bizarre-looking cars, like the famous Dodge Charger Daytona and the Plymouth Superbird, which had elongated pointy front ends and huge wings at the back. However, Ford didn’t managed to enter the competition with its Torino King Cobra, as NASCAR rules changed drastically.

The new regulation demanded that in order for a car to enter a NASCAR season, its producer had to make a minimum of 3,000 units to go on sale. The rule was pretty harsh, thinking that before this, only 500 units were required.

Only three Ford Torino King Cobra prototypes were made and one of them is being auctioned on eBay with a starting price of $500,000 (€380,000). Its owner is retiring and he's selling most of his car collection in order to move on. The car is in perfect shape, looking absolutely great. Powered by a Boss 429 V8 engine, it is the only one made with a manual 4-speed gearbox.
