Ford to Operate 4,000 Temporary Layoffs in Europe

According a report from Automotive News, Ford might be doing well in the US, but the European market is struggling so badly in Europe that they will temporarily cut some 4,000 workers next year, all of them at their plant in Valencia, Spain. The workers there will tale leave of absence from work 39 days in over the course of the year.

"This downtime is related to product changeover at the plant and the expectation that demand will remain weak next year across the European industry," said Schmitz, who's based at Ford's European headquarters in Cologne, Germany. "The decline in demand in both Spain and Europe is affecting all of the industry.”

The Valencia factory employs some 6,2000 people right now. However, they also have facilities in Romania, Portugal, Germany, England, Belgium and Turkey.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
