The one biggest annoyance Ford customers found with their new cars last year wasn’t reliability or service intervals. It was in fact a non-intuitive little thing called Sync. But we’re pleased to report that the people that worked on Apple’s Siri are also now involved with GM and Ford to develop more intuitive infotainment systems.
According to Automotive News, Nuance Communications, the company that developed some of the voice technology for the Siri software, will have a say in how your Sync or MyLink. This will result in more conversational commands being used as commands for the system.
It's a trend across the auto industry. Everybody wants the first-time user to engage and have a good experience,” said Brian Radloff, Nuance's director of automotive solutions.
Ford said they would like to adopt a Siri-like voice recognition app, a software that can interpret the speaker's intent.
