Inspired by go-faster vehicles such as the Fiesta ST200 hot hatchback, the Ford ST-Line is more than just a visual pack. Now available for the Fiesta and Focus, the ST-Line treatment will be applied to two further models by the end of 2016.
Roelant de Waard, VP of marketing at Ford of Europe, explains that the ST-Line has been designed for customers who wish to “enjoy the famous fun-to-drive characteristics and great looks of Ford’s performance models in an exciting and affordable package.”
The ST-inspired design cues included in the package come in the form of a trapezoidal honeycomb grille, dark surrounds for the fog lamps, a front bumper lip spoiler (Fiesta only), bumper insert (Focus only), rear diffuser, rear roof spoiler (Fiesta only), black beltline just beneath the windows, deeper side skirts, exterior badging on the front wings, sport seats with red stitching, perforated leather on the steering wheel, a sportier gear knob, scuff plates, and dark woven headliner. The Fiesta ST-Line boasts 16-inch rollers and the Focus ST-Line prides itself on 17-inch alloys.
Underneath the sporty bling, the ST-Line package complements the handling characteristics with a sport suspension that lowers the ride height of the Fiesta and Focus by 10 millimeters (0.4 inches). Models which are equipped with the PowerShift six-speed transmission also gain steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
In the case of the Ford Fiesta, the ST-Line is available with the following gasoline and diesel powertrains: 1.0 EcoBoost (100, 125 PS) with the five-speed manual, 1.0 EcoBoost (100 PS) with the PowerShfift, 1.0 EcoBoost (140 PS) with the five-speed manual, and 1.5 TDCi (95 PS) with the five-speed manual.
As for the Focus, customers can opt for the ST-Line in the following instances: 1.0 EcoBoost (125 PS) and 1.5 EcoBoost (150, 182 PS) with either the six-speed manual, six-speed automatic or six-speed PowerShift transmission, as well as the 1.5 TDCi (120, 150 PS) with either a stick shift or a slush box.
Available in three and five-door variants, the ST-Line models are priced from £15,645 and £20,595, respectively, in the United Kingdom. The ST-Line is also available for the Focus station wagon.
