Ford has signed a partnership with audio specialist Harman to provide its future models with the all-new B&O Play Sound System.
Ford will take advantage of an exclusive deal regarding the B&O Play systems, which will be found in the global lineup of the Blue Oval starting next year. The new arrangement has the goal of revolutionizing the audio experience found in a car, and this will happen through better quality and clarity.
Harman and Ford want the customers that will buy the vehicles fitted with B&O Play systems to enjoy a richer and more engaging listening experience. This will happen thanks to proprietary Harman technologies, as well as a tune for every body style of each model that will receive the setup.
In other words, Ford will offer a top-notch audio system that is developed by a high-end supplier. Expect each system to come with a tailored signature sound for the particular model sold by the Blue Oval.
According to a 2016 Ipsos Automotive Audio Branding Study, approximately one-third of new car customers say that the audio brand in their next automobile would have a meaningful impact on their purchase consideration.
Even if the research does not focus whether the acquisition will not go on if some audio brands are present in the vehicle, it does make automakers aware of the topic.
Evidently, automakers have known that fitting a good sound system can change the way a car feels, and even more important is to provide that model with proper insulation.
As fans of car audio systems are already aware, the best speakers in the world could sound awful in a vehicle that has not been soundproofed. If the setup is not calibrated correctly, it is all gone down the drain.
However, this is not the case with Ford and Harman, as their specialists have focused (pun not intended) on implementing the best possible system in each car, along with configuring it to have a “tailored sound signature.” Sounds good to us.
Ford has not specified whether the system will be an option or fitted as standard equipment beginning with particular trim levels. We believe the former is the most likely option, but you never know for sure until an official confirmation is presented.
