Ford's SYNC Could Provide Pandora Streaming

Ford's SYNC seems to be one of the key development areas at the American company, as the manufacturer plans to improve the infotainment system with several new features every once in a while. Take for example the statement Ford rolled out at CES (Consumers Electronics Show) this year, when it confirmed the next version of SYNC will bring even more data to its users, including GPS directions, live traffic data and weather conditions.

And according to the guys over at Autoblog.com, Ford's engineers aren't going to stop here. It seems like Ford is now planning to introduce streaming radio in SYNC, which means people who will be driving a SYNC-capable car will be able to listen to any Internet radio they like.

But more importantly, Pandora is one of the names rumored to be available through SYNC's future streaming Internet radio, as Charlotte Fisher from Ford's Design and Technology team confirmed the company is currently talking with representatives of this service.

Obviously, this can be only good news but, unfortunately, only for those living in the United States as Pandora is currently limited to Americans. Pandora was initially available globally but, due to licensing issues, it is now available exclusively to the United States.

"We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative," a statement published on the official website of the Internet radio explains the restriction.
