Ford S-MAX Receives Fifth BusinessCar Award

Ford’s seven-seater has managed to seal its fifth award from BusinessCar in the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) category. The refreshed S-MAX has thoroughly impressed the magazine’s jury, as well as its readers.

“Ford’s S-MAX has proved that family transport doesn’t have to be bland to look at nor boring to drive, and the readers of BusinessCar obviously agree.  The recent changes to the S-MAX further enhanced its appeal in the corporate marketplace, and this BusinessCar MPV of the Year Award reflects the high esteem in which the car is held,” stated BusinessCar editor Paul Barker.

The S-MAX has been updated with new powertrains, including Ford’s high-efficiency 2.0-liter EcoBoost petrol engines that puts out 203 hp (149 kW), alongside the carmaker’s frugal new Powershift automatic transmission. The MPV is now also available with the 1.6-liter 113 hp diesel engine that comes fitted as standard with Auto Start Stop.

Innovative safety features that made their debut in the new version of the Ford S-MAX include Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), and the new Power Rear Door Child Lock facility. In addition, higher-spec Titanium and Titanium X Sport S-max models come with LED daytime running lights, as well an increased offering of safety and comfort equipment.

“Ford S-MAX's run of wins at the BusinessCar awards is testimony to a car which has redefined the MPV segment.  Almost 50,000 UK motorists agree with BusinessCar and have bought one for themselves. BusinessCar Awards makes the success of the S-MAX particularly gratifying because it is a clear reflection of the opinions of the market,” explains Kevin Griffin, Ford Britain fleet director, welcoming the award.
