Ford Recalls 2009 F-150 Trucks

We already knew that F-150 is playing a key role in Ford's marketing strategy but this doesn't necessarily mean that it's affected by malfunctions, just like many other products on the market. For example, the American automaker has just announced that it is recalling 8,735 model year 2009 F-150 trucks in the United States.

According to a notification published on the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) there is a malfunction in the brake stop lamp system that could "only" increase the risk of an accident.

Basically, the trucks are recalled "for failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard no. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment," NHTSA wrote in the advisory. "The brake stop lamp switch may be improperly adjusted. This may result in a delay in brake stop lamp illumination when the brake pedal is depressed," it said. "In situation of very mild brake application, the brake stop lamps may not illuminate."

Wondering what could happen if such a scenario takes place? Well, not much but still, it obviously increases the risk of accidents, as the NHTSA warned. "Delay or loss of brake stop lamp function may increase the risk of an accident," it explained. Sure, some of you might still think that this is only a minor glitch but, just to remain on the safe side, you'd better get your truck checked at an authorized service center.

Obviously, dealers will inspect and replace the affected parts free of charge, with recalls expected to begin around May 13. "Dealers will inspect and have the brake stop lamp switch remove and reinstalled which will provide proper adjustment," NHTSA mentioned.
