Ford Motor Company is recalling certain E-Series van because their windshields may form bubbles after an extended time in hot temperatures due to improper manufacturing conditions.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says about 4,532 units are affected by the recall, including E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 models built between May 12-26, 2011.
“Due to improper manufacturing conditions, some of the windshields may form bubbles after an extended time in hot temperatures. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 205, ‘Glazing Materials’. The presence of bubbles may hinder driver's visibility thereby increasing the risk of a crash,” the NHTSA said in a statement.
Ford will notify owners beginning January 27 and dealers will inspect and replace the windshield if necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332, with recall campaign number 11C20.
