Ford Ranger - Support Vehicle at Goodwood

With the start of the Goodwood Festival of Speed approaching fast, last minute arrangements are made to make sure everything goes smoothly. As the founding sponsor of the most anticipated automotive events in the UK, Ford will supply the new Ford Ranger pick-up truck as the support vehicle at the event.

The off-roader was chosen by the team responsible for the event support for its seating for up to five people inside the truck and for its 3,000 kg braked trailer load capacity.

“The Ranger's towing capability, load space and real agility off-road make it the ideal choice for our location and set-up. It really makes a difference to the event team to have the right support vehicle at the Festival,"
said Christopher Salmon, motor sport events manager for Goodwood.

The six Ford Ranger vehicles that will be used at the festival, including the double and super-cab Thunder derivates, will give spectators a chance to see the new model before it goes on sale in September. Ergonomically crafted seats and climate control greets the driver inside the car, while an advanced bodyshell has been especially implement to reduce noise from the cabin.

The 2010 Ranger model comes with multiple engine configuration, with the 2.9-liter V6 as the top unit. Several transmission options are also available, including a 4- and 5-speed manual plus 3- or 4-speed automatic. The new range will include 10 colors, with five of them totally new: Highland Green, Winning Blue, Lagoon Blue, Copper Red and Desert Bronze.

The Festival of Speed is due to be held over the weekend of July 3-5, 2009, in the grounds of Goodwood House, in West Sussex. The event is a combination between hill climbing, rally stage, garden party and motor show, and has been in 1993 by Earl of March, who also owns the Goodwood estate.
