Customers can also opt for a torque-converter automatic for $49,990, which comes with six forward gears instead of the 10R80 in the XLT with the 2.0-liter EcoBlue bi-turbo diesel. The engine in the Ranger Sport 4x4 is the 3.2-liter Duratorq, an inline-five turbo diesel that outputs 147 kW and 470 Nm. In other words, the EcoBlue is more powerful and torquier than the larger engine.

SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment, smartphone mirroring, push-button start, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, satellite navigation, and two TFT displays in the instrument cluster are some of the highlights. As far as the exterior is concerned, the special edition presents itself with a black-painted front grille, mirror caps, door handles, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Side steps, a sports bar, and bed liner are also included, and Ford of Australia has 600 examples of the breed to offer. In regards to customization, the exterior of the Ranger Sport 4x4 can be had in black, silver, white, grey, and red. Customers who are also interested in safety are treated to traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking, all as standard equipment.

The Sport 4x4 is considered a 2019.75 model year by the boffins at Ford, announced back in March 2019 for Australia and New Zealand. From the entry-level XL to the Raptor, they all feature the life-saving technologies mentioned in the previous paragraph. If you were wondering why the Blue Oval made these changes so late in the 2019 model year, the five-star ANCAP safety rating is the answer you’re looking for.

Introduced in the United States in 2018, the T6 platform-based Ranger can trace its roots back to 2011. To this effect, development of the next generation is already underway at the Ford Motor Company.
