While the Blue Oval is hard at work testing a seven-seater SUV which will bear the Everest nameplate, its platform brother hasn't been forgotten. Our spy photographers managed to snap a few pics of the facelifted Ford Ranger pickup truck, expected to hit showrooms later this year.
From the pictures we've been provided with by our crack team of carparazzi, the pre-production Ford Ranger has been sighted while testing somewhere in Eastern Europe. Due to the lack of camouflage on the doors, rear quarter panels and truck bed, we're almost certain the vehicle spotted is an XLT Double Cab.
The side mirrors and exterior door handles are finished in shiny polished chrome, while the bed bars have a satin look to them, meaning they're made out of aluminum or satin chrome painted steel bars in the worst cost-conscious case scenario.
In the case of the door entry guards, their design is somewhat different than the chrome and black plastic ones adorning the 2013 Ford Ranger. Despite the heavy camo wrapping the front fascia, the headlight cluster retains its shape, but the light bulbs are placed dissimilar to the outgoing model.
The bumperless rear shows us that the bed door is now flat, while the tail lights are virtually the same to the previous generation. As far as engines are concerned, the 2015 Ford Ranger pickup truck will presumably be offered with two four-pots and a five-cylinder mill in both gasoline and diesel flavor.
Even though Ford is mum on whether the Ranger will be sold in the United States of America once again, we just know that the Blue Oval won't let the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon have their way in this segment.
