Don’t get us wrong, we like a nicely detailed engine bay, but the crate engines in the adjacent images take things way to far. We’re talking about a pair of V8s that were decked out using Swarowski crystals and 24-karat gold here.
The units in question are the eternal rivals of the racing world, coming from Ford Racing and Chevrolet. The all-shiny mills were displayed at SEMA this week. The shiny... V16 result turned quite a lot of heads, despite the fact that the pair of bling-cursed vee eights has visited SEMA before.
The engines werecustomized ruined by an aftermarket developer called Proform Parts - while these guys usually handle normal high-horsepower stuff, they apparently have a thing for Swarovski crystals.
Both V8s have Swarovski crystals all over them, from the air filter case to the cylinder head covers. Nonetheless, like we said, there’s also some 24-karat gold involved, with the Ford Racing unit being the one to receive this.
The precious metal reminds us of the McLaren F1, whose engine bay is lined with gold foil - about 16 grams or 0.8 ounces were used in order to reflect the heat coming from the 6.1-liter BMW V12, so that this wouldn’t affect the carbon structure around it. Nonetheless, here the gold is used in a way that wouldn’t exactly help the V8.
Oh well, at least Mopar fans can have their peace, as no HEMI was forced to wear Swarovski crystals, at least none that we know of.

This makes us wonder what the company thinks about the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, which, as you know, has 47 of these shiny things in its headlights. Both V8s have Swarovski crystals all over them, from the air filter case to the cylinder head covers.
