Ford China reported an increase in demand for its products of 39%, making this their best August ever. In total, 48,631 vehicles were delivered.
Demand for the Mondeo increased 44 percent last month, when 4,594 units were sold. Meanwhile, the imported Ford Edge crossover were more than doubled by the introduction of a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.
In total deliveries of Ford branded vehicles were up 65 percent with 33,640 wholesale units demanded by Chinese customers. There rest up was made up by joint venture products sold under different brands.
Last week, the company’s CEO Alan Mulally announced they would be bringing the Lincoln brand to China during the second half of 2014. Considering how much the Chinese like luxury cars, it should do well.
Mulally also broke ground for two new assembly plants, one in Chongqing and one in Hangzhou. The two plants are set to double Ford’s production capacity in China to 1.2 million passenger cars annually by 2015.
