The vehicle will be showcased at the NAFA 2010 Institute & Expo, scheduled to be held in Detroit, between April 24-27. This is a show for professionals who manage fleets of public safety vehicles, trucks and buses and also a wide range of military & off-road equipment. The exhibition targets fleet mangers from all segments: public safety, government and corporate.
"Police nationwide asked for a new kind of weapon in the battle for public safety, and Ford is answering the call with a purpose-built vehicle - engineered and built in America - that's as dynamic as it is durable," said Mark Fields, Ford President of The Americas, who will be a key speaker for this year's Institute & Expo.
The Ford police interceptor uses a 3.5-liter V6 unit that offers at least 263 hp and can be optionally fitted with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, which uses twin turbocharging to deliver at least 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The latter is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and uses an all wheel drive system, giving the vehicle a sharp handling.
