Ford Motor Co. has released yet another video from it “Mustang Countdown” series, this time paying tribute to Carroll Shelby, the man behind the high-performance Ford Mustangs.
The Texas-born designer created the very first Shelby Mustang, the GT350, back in 1965, only one year after Ford had released their famous pony car. Shelby-modified musclecars were officially built until 1969, with very few vehicles being offered for the 1970-1972 model years.
The Shelby badge returned on Mustangs in 2007 when the GT-H was launched, but other versions, such as the GT350, GT500, Super Snake, or the Shelby 1000, have been developed since.
Even though Carroll Shelby passed away in May 2012, the Nevada-headquartered company will continue to offer Mustang-based high-performance vehicles and will do so when the sixth-generation pony hits the production line as well. Scroll below to learn more about Ford and Carroll Shelby.
