Ford Offering Two Congestion Charge-Free Vehicles

As you know, a drive through London can be a difficult experience, with one of the causes being the Congestion Charge. Fortunately, this has been revised earlier this year and now allows cars that emit less than 100 grams of CO2 per km and meet Euro 5 emission standards to enter free of charge.

Now, Ford joins the list of automotive producers that offer vehicles which are exempted from the Congestion Charge.

"Drivers of existing low-CO2 Ford vehicles equipped with ECOnetic technologies are set to benefit from zero London Congestion Charge regulations coming into force in January. From January 4th, the new Greener Vehicle 100 per cent Discount will mean exemption from the Congestion Charge for cars with CO2 emissions of 100g/km or less, which also meet the Euro 5 standard for air quality," stated the press release.

The carmaker's range of vehicles currently includes two models that allow their drivers to benefit from the tax exemption, the Fiesta ECOnetic and Fiesta Van ECOnetic (both emit 98 grams of CO2 per km).

Ford is currently making efforts to follow the eco trend of the market and expand its range of green vehicles. The automotive producer will introduce the Transit Connect Electric next year and the Focus Electric in 2012.

"Ford offers a large range of cars and commercial vehicles and I am delighted that they include vehicles which will be exempt from the London Congestion Charge. Even more exciting is the introduction of our zero-emission Transit Connect Electric in 2011 and Focus Electric in 2012," said Jon Wellsman, sales director, Ford of Britain.
