Ford created a new segment out of thin air back in the 1960s. Pony cars became extremely popular and known all over the world for their bold American design. Likewise, Tesla recently created its own niche with its highly successful electric models.
It's easy to forget the fact that even as the Model S came out naysayers said it was never going to work, that electric cars weren't a viable solution. Yet here were are, in a world where these are some of the popular luxury vehicles in the world.
There's no denying that Tesla has a technological lead over its competitors, but Ford isn't taking this on its back. After several trial projects, the automotive giant revealed a bespoke and frankly very polarizing car called the Mach-E.
Ford does great car design, but there's no getting around the fact that the Mach-E is just an electric crossover. It's not strong like a real Mustang or rugged like the Bronco. There might not even be any demand for such a model, but some might exist for an electric muscle car of sorts.
This is something we've argued in the past, and today, we get to check out another visionary Mustang EV. This time, it's a rendering of what Emre Husmen calls the "Mach-F".
The logic behind it is pretty simple; if the Mach-E is successful, Ford can make another one, this time really going after the big boys, such as the Model S and indirectly the Porsche Taycan.
The study is supposed to be about the size of the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, and as you can tell, it also has the four-door coupe design. Those are too many doors for a Mustang, but we're not going to complain under these circumstances.
We appreciate the fastback design, the triple creases in the taillights to pay homage to the original Mustang, and the high-tech wheel design. But the question we have is: why not make a 4-door with a powerful V8 engine, challenging the Dodge Charger?
