Ford Mustang GT500 Is the Most Powerful Production V8

Ford’s new 5.8-liter supercharged V8, which is be powering the 2013 Shelby GT500, is now officially the most powerful production V8 engine in the world. It puts out an astonishing 662 hp. In a world where horsepower is king, this will be a big boost for Ford’s future ad campaigns.

The less talked about stat of the engine is also impressive in its own right - the torque output of 855 Nm (631 lb-ft). Also, more than 90% of its peak torque is available between 2.200 and 5.800 rpm and 535 Nm (395 lb-ft) are available from just 1000 rpm, ensuring that he engine can also be driven smoothly and doesn’t need to be revved hard to get the most out of it.
