Summer nights might be hot for all of us, but there's a certain category of aficionados for whom things get even hotter once the sun goes down. I'm referring to street racers here and we can now talk about a recent sample of this, one that involves a Ford Mustang GT and a BMW M240i.
The two coupes got together as part of an organised adventure, one that, according to that the gear heads want the world to believe, took place in Mexico.
A ton of differences set the slab of America apart from its German rival, but none of it mattered when the beasts line up next to each other.
The larger Mustang obviously relied on its five-oh, while the straight-six-powered Beemer bet it all on the xDrive all-paw card for the initial phase of the race.
Then again, the Hoosier white branding on the side of the muscle car's tires is there for a reason.
Oh, and did I mention that both the V8 toy and the smaller Euro coup had been taken down the aftermarket path, featuring full bolt-ons?
The brawl involving the Ford and the BMW was one of those races that involved a pot, with this sitting at $1,000.
Speaking of which, please don't use such a shenanigan as an example. In other words, it's best to head for the drag strip when the right pedal urgest happen to show up. After all, that doesn't just mean keeping things on the safe side, but also allows one to make the most out of his or her vehicle by making use of the prepped track surface.
Then again, if you don't want that surface to place an extra straight on the drivetrain of your vehicle, you could always go for a rolling quarter-mile battle at the strip and here's an example of such an adventure.
