Ford has surprisingly not missed a single beat when it came to making its products truly global. The new Fusion is also the new Mondeo, the new Escape is the Kuka, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see them changed the Fiesta in America soon.
All this is leading up to the most fantastic news Ford has ever been able to offer its European customers. A video has just been posted moments ago, featuring nothing but a bit of smoke and exhaust sound and title “Ford Mustang comes to Europe!”

They didn’t say any more, but they didn’t have to because we at autoevolution know exactly what they mean. As we reported in a previous editorial, the Mustang will be imported from Detroit to Europe.

The imports will continue for about a year before Ford introducing the all-new, 2015 Mustang, which will be more suitable to global customer’s needs. That’s because it will have a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine instead of the V6, as well as independent rear suspension.

The existing pony car car will be sold to raise anticipation for Ford’s first true sportscar for the European market in a long time.

"We heard it here first – Mustang, the American icon, is coming to Europe!" said president and CEO, Ford Motor Company, Alan Mulally. "We will have more details to share in the future. One thing we can say for sure what has made Mustang such a sensation in the U.S. for nearly 50 years soon will be enjoyed by customers in Europe."

“You only have to look at the incredible response to Mustang when it has appeared this summer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in the U.K., and at the Le Mans Classic, in France, to get a sense of the excitement this American icon generates across Europe,” said Stephen Odell, group vice president and chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe.
