Ford Mustang Bullitt Roars on the No-Speed Limit Isle of Man Mountain Road

Ever since its launch earlier this year, the Ford Mustang Bullitt has been on the short list of many buyers in the market for a performance car. And if there was any doubt the Bullit is the car to get, then the video released on Tuesday by Ford might help them decide.

For a while now, Ford has been taking its models on Europe’s most spectacular roads and posted their drives online. We’ve seen a Fiesta ST on via Campocatino in Italy, a GT on the Atlantic Ocean road in Norway and the regular Mustang on the Transfagarasan in Romania.

Now, the Bullitt is taking on a road more famous for the motorcycle racing that takes place there: the Mountain Road on the Isle of Man.

The 13.35 miles (21.48 km) long drive up Snaefell Mountain is handled beautifully by the Mustang, which roars insane in its solitude as the road was closed for the shoot.

Seeing the Bullitt screaming and making a lot of noise on a deserted stretch of road, at times moist, at times enveloped in fog, at times bathed in sun, is like a scene taken right from a horror movie.

“Imagine German autobahns, then add hills and twists, and shrink it to a single carriageway with incredible views, and what you have are these utterly fantastic, and dramatic, roads,” said the man who sits behind the wheel of the Bullitt,  journalist Steve Sutcliffe.

“The Mountain Road feels – and is – an utterly dramatic place to drive. It’s epic, and quite unlike anywhere else.”

Ford says Isle of Man is the ninth stretch of road-tested so far, and it has already achieved the highest score in the series.

Maybe the carmaker likes it so much because the Isle of Man roads have no speed limit – hence Sutcliffe’s reference to the German autobahns – except in built-up areas.

You can watch the video of Bullitt’s exploits on the motorcycle road circuit in the video attached below.
