The recently introduced 2015 Ford Mustang is on some kind of world tour right now, being displayed at the Detroit Auto Show shortly after being the official vehicle of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The pony’s global tour will likely culminate with its market launch later this year.
At Detroit, Ford also brought the Mustang 1 Concept alongside the new Mustang, so visitors will be able to have a look at the study that started it all. If you’re not familiar with the concept, you should know that it actually has very little in common with the first-generation Mustang.

There are a few design cues that made it on the production car, but thing are totally different under the hood, where there’s no sign of a V8 and not even an inline-six, like the first iteration of the pony has. The concept was motivated by a puny 1.5-liter V4 unit.

Ford showcased the concept last year, long before the 2015 Mustang was unveiled, so you can just check out our previous report for more details. The vehicle is available as a 1:43 and 1:24 scale model as part of the Mustang's 50th Anniversary this year. Live photos with the actual concept car are available in our photo gallery section below.
