Ford Mondeo Titanium, Auctioned for Queensland Flood Victims

The Australian division of Ford announced today it would be giving away a Mondeo Titanium TDCi wagon, to be auctioned by Cricket Australia to the benefit of Premier's Flood Relief Appeal in Queensland.

The vehicle, which has a market value of about AU$50,000, was launched in Australia as a special edition in 2009. It came with a sports body kit made up of a new front grille, restyled front and rear bumpers, fog lights and lowered body.

Aimed at the more pretentious buyers in the country, the Titanium also offers active cruise control, adaptive headlights and voice recognition.

The auction for the vehicle is being held online, at the following link, with the auction running until January 30. In addition to the money raised from selling the vehicle, Ford will also donate $AUS50,000.

"Within our Ford family our regional employees and Queensland dealers have been directly affected and we are currently taking steps to review what other support we can provide not only to them but to the greater Queensland community as a whole,"
said Bob Graziano, Ford Australia CEO.

The efforts to help the people affected by the floods in the regions will not stop there. Ford already has some 20 vehicles in the service of relief organizations, while the donation of a second vehicle is currently being evaluated.

The floods which have hit Queensland has left at least 20 people dead, with at least 12 still missing. The economic damages, coming from the dip in the price for real estate and even damages to the local mines have not been so far evaluated.
