After the Ford Motor Company showcased the ST-Line package for the Fiesta and Focus, the manufacturer now applies the same treatment to the Mondeo (a.k.a. Fusion in the U.S.). All in all, the Ford Mondeo with ST-Line add-ons is more than meets the eye.
Before anything, it should be noted that ST-Line is different from go-faster Ford models with ST brand affixed to their names. Put simply, ST-Line is a visual and suspension pack that’s inspired by ST models. That said, British customers can upgrade the Mondeo with ST-Line bits and bobs only if they go for the 2.0-liter TDCi turbo diesel in 150 PS or 180 PS tunes.

“The new Mondeo ST-Line is our sportiest Mondeo since we introduced the Mondeo ST220 model in 2002,”
declared Roelant de Waard, VP of marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe. “Mondeo ST-Line adds another dimension to the broad Mondeo lineup that offers options from the fuel-efficient Mondeo ECOnetic and Mondeo Hybrid models, to the exclusive and upscale Mondeo Vignale.” So what does the package include?

I’m much obliged to tell you that the Mondeo ST-Line boasts a sports suspension, honeycomb grille finished in black, lip spoiler, LED DRLs, rectangular fog lamps, sculptured side skirts, resculpted rear bumper with a diffuser-style insert, silver exhaust pipe surrounds, 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels, sports seats with red stitching, and a sporty steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather. For manual transmission-equipped models, the Mondeo ST-Line also adds a sporty gear knob and ST-Line scuff plates. Although the rear roof spoiler comes as standard on the wagon, the add-on is available as an option on the Mondeo ST-Line sedan.

“With our new ST-Line range even more customers can experience sporty style and driving dynamics inspired by our most exciting Ford Performance lineup ever, that includes models such as the Focus RS, Fiesta ST200 and Ford GT supercar” added de Waard. “This year we expect to sell 40,000 performance cars in Europe, a 50 % increase compared with 2015, which in turn saw performance car sales rise by 61 % compared with 2014.”
