Just as we told you yesterday in our million reports on the subject, June brought what seem to be the highest monthly sales in 2009, especially in the United States, also known as one of the most affected markets by the economic chaos. But Canada brought high sales too, as Ford said in a statement for the press, with the American manufacturer now becoming the top-selling automaker in the country.
In particular, Ford of Canada sold 27,408 units in June which translates into an increase of 24.6 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Additionally, the company also increased market share for the eight consecutive month, Ford proudly said in the release.
"This is a historic day for Ford in Canada," said David Mondragon, president and CEO, Ford of Canada. "Consumers are drawn to the quality, design and value of our vehicles and we're going to keep the momentum growing with great offers this summer."
"Our product line-up has never been better – from the newly re-designed Ford Fusion, to the award winning Ford Flex and the rugged F-Series," said Dean Stoneley, vice president of Marketing, Ford of Canada. "With the 'Drive One Challenge' we are giving consumers a clear, compelling reason to walk into a Ford store. We are so confident in our vehicles that we believe once you drive a Ford, you won't want to drive anything else."
As for the models, Ford Fusion sales were up 13 percent in June, while Ranger sales increased by 50 percent. Ford F-150 is the model which posted the biggest increase in sales, with figures pointing to an impressive 59 percent growth. Ford SUV and CUV sales grew 41 percent.
