Dearborn-based automaker Ford has launched Ford Fleet, an all-new app for iPad designed with fleet owners and operators in mind. Available as we speak at the Apple iTunes App Store, the application brings the company’s full catalog of Ford and Lincoln vehicles to the tablet. Once downloaded, the catalog can be accessed at any time without Wi-Fi connectivity.
The app will also provide users with all sorts of information about Ford’s retail and commercial vehicles that’s not available via retail brochures or the company’s mobile website. Ford Fleet will include info on trucks, vans, chassis, cutaways and even special vehicles such as the Police Interceptor or the Transit Connect Taxi.
The Blue Oval manufacturer says the app may be launched on other mobile platforms in the future based on user demand.
“Fleet managers have very different needs from a retail customer,” said Kevin Koswick, Ford director of North American fleet, lease and remarketing operations. “In speaking with our commercial, government and daily rental fleet customers, they asked for a fleet-specific app that has more information than our printed pieces, is easily updatable and is something they can take with them on the go.”
