Ford Ka Not Getting Repacement

The first Ford Ka was a great city car, which was small, fun to drive, cheap to buy and own, and it looked like nothing else on the road, especially in SportKa trim, with bigger wheels and a wider stance.

However, Ford was far less successful with the Fiat 500-based new Ka, which has been on sale since 2009. The new car lacked the flair of its predecessor, and it failed to excite the masses of young people Ford was aiming for, according to autocar.co.uk.

Now, Ford has announced that the little Ka is very unlikely to be getting a replacement, as a small city car like it “produces absolutely no profit” and is not in tune with the company’s ambitions for the near future. The current car will get a mid-life makeover next year, probably, but that`s as far as they are willing to go with it.

However, the Blue Oval is still looking into superminis, and a more diverse range of offerings has reportedly been talked about within the company. Still, perhaps if they went back to the roots of what made the original Ka so good, they could apply the same recipe to a new car, which would not be underpinned by a Fiat.
