Ford Ka Excels at Ownership Costs, Ford Says

Taking into account the current market conditions, developing a small-displacement engine that would provide very low ownership costs is mandatory in order to gain a large segment of the market and Ford Ka does this thing incredibly well, according to a statement published by the American carmaker. As you probably know, the new Ka plays a major role in Ford’s restructuring plans as it features almost the main attributes required by a recession-hit automotive market: small engine, enhanced fuel economy and very low CO2 emissions.

"The new Ford Ka is a brilliant small car which is coming to the market at the right time when customers are looking for economical cars that are cheap to run, fun and have great styling – it's a superb drive for such a small car,” Martin Ward of CAP said.

Besides that, Ford Ka is quite affordable, the United States-based automaker continued to praise the model, with prices starting at 7,945 pounds.

“The insurance rating on new Ka starts at 1E – the lowest rating available - for the Studio model. All others are rated 2E (on the 20 group system) including the new diesel option available on Zetec series,” it said. “Furthermore, after one year / 10,000 miles the average rise in RV is 16 per cent. RVs are up by between 15 per cent for Zetec 1.2 petrol and 21 per cent for Studio petrol. This amounts to increases of £1,625 and £1,850. The new diesel option on Ka Zetec has residual value set at 69 percent.”

The 2009 generation Ford Ka will come with a choice of two small engines, namely 1.2-liter petrol-powered 68 hp and 1.3-liter diesel 74 hp. The model was officially unveiled last October at the 2008 Paris Auto Show.
