Ford has announced five separate recall campaigns in North America, which add up to over 300,000 units being called back by the manufacturer.

Three of these are safety recalls, while the other two are safety compliance recalls. The first one targets specific units of the MY2011-2012 F-150, 2012 Expedition, Mustang, and Lincoln Navigator.

The vehicles mentioned above will receive an update of the powertrain control module software, as well as an inspection of trouble codes.

According to Ford, this safety recall concerns a potential issue with the output speed sensor of the transmission lead frame. In certain conditions, the transmission might force a temporary downshift into first gear, which could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up.

Ford is aware of three incidents related to this condition, but no injuries were sustained in the reported cases. Ford says 201,900 vehicles are affected by the issue.

The second safety recall announced by Ford today refers to certain MY 2014-2015 Explorer and Police Interceptor Utility vehicles. In this case, approximately 81,000 vehicles are affected, and will receive rear suspension toe links.

Ford will replace these elements to prevent a potential fracture caused by poor weld quality. In the case of failure, the rear suspension could become noisy, and steering might become challenging. A single accident related to the incident has been reported to Ford, and it involves an injury.

The third recall action announced by Ford refers to certain MY2016 F-Series Super Duty vehicles. In the case of approximately 2,600 units, Ford wants to inspect the tires of these vehicles, as they discovered that a conveyor might have damaged tires of vehicles assembled between April 5, 2016, through April 10, 2016, at the Kentucky Truck Plant in the USA. In case the tires were damaged, they will be replaced for free. No accidents have been caused by this issue.

The fourth recall action announced by Ford concerns certain MY 2007-2012 Flex, Taurus, Mercury Sable, and Lincoln MKS vehicles. The total number adds up to 199 cars, which will receive a new driver airbag model.

Ford believes that particular units of the series might lack the chemical enhancer responsible for the second-stage of the airbag deployment. The issue is not related to Takata, and Ford is not aware of any injuries or accidents related to this safety compliance problem.

And finally, the last safety compliance recall announced by Ford in the same press release targets 39 MY2016 Ford Fusion vehicles. The Blue Oval wants to replace the driver seat track assembly of those cars, as the seat mounting bracket attachment may have been improperly welded.

While no injuries or accidents related to this issue have been reported, Ford believes it might result in reduced strength of the seat track, thus increasing risk in the case of an accident.
