Ford and Mercedes-Benz are some of the few mainstream car brands that have been around for over a hundred years. They're household names, and we know exactly what to expect from them, which can be both a good and a bad thing.
In recent years, Ford has completely given up on the normal passenger car to focus on the more popular and profitable crossovers. Meanwhile, Mercedes is also realizing that the number of models it's developing is unsustainable, but hasn't made drastic cuts yet.
What if they suddenly decided to share costs and make exciting cars together? On the face of it, the two brands don't have anything in common, but we can't forget the old Chrysler-Daimler partnership is partly responsible for your favorite muscle cars of today.
We want to say that stranger things have happened, but reality will never accommodate a Ford GT with a face swap. The American supercar is too rare, too precious to ever be chopped up for the sake of a joke. And Ford would sue anybody who even tried.
Still, the appeal of this type of rendering by superrenderscars is undeniable. A Ford supercar with an AMG face on top isn't something you see often. Heck, it's usually the other way around, as the exotic cars are the ones turned into a plebeian Volkswagen or Subaru.
Part of the fun of these weird renderings is picking a name, some kind of combination of letters and numbers that depicts an abomination that hasn't existed before. Our vote goes to "Forcedes-Denz GT AMG," but Ford GT AMG also works.
Would this be a bad supercar? Arguably not. People have criticized the Ford GT for having an EcoBoost V6, but the rest of the package is undeniably that of a race car. Meanwhile, the AMG GT is said to lack the pinpoint precision that a German car should have, but the 4.0-liter twin-turbo is one of the best of its kind. Together, these components would add up to something good... in a parallel universe.
