Ford Genuine Parts Better than Copies

It seems that sometimes we all get tempted to buy copy parts for our cars instead of genuine parts because genuine parts are more expensive. But a study conducted by the independent Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA) is here to teach us better.

MIRA decided to compare Ford replacement body panels against copies, and the results showed that the copies are rarely produced to the same specification and tolerances as Ford's genuine parts. So they are unlikely to last as long and will probably not come with a warranty.

Another important aspect pointed out by MIRA is that the Ford genuine parts are more resistant to corrosion and will fit your car a lot better that others. The study also shows that in case of an accident, an original Ford bonnet will better protect pedestrians from the shock.

"It is very scary to think what could happen if, for example, your car’s braking system was fitted with counterfeit parts," says Paul Muers, Ford Customer Service Division marketing manager. "It's a risk if work isn't entrusted to a franchised dealer. Going to a Ford dealer or Rapid Fit centre means only genuine parts are used.

“Genuine Ford Parts are made to the same standards as our vehicles and offer guaranteed Ford quality and serviceability. They are designed specifically for the vehicle, so fit better, work more effectively, are safer and last longer.”

Ford has been seriously involved in the war against parts counterfeiters for some time now. Counterfeiting costs the auto industry £10 billion a year.
