Needless to say, pretty much any double DIN HU that supports Android Auto or CarPlay would work, but the people over at Elite Car Stereo have recently demonstrated an easy installation that seems to fit the Fusion just like a glove.

They used a Pioneer DMH-1500NEX for the whole thing, and by the looks of things, everything seems to be working just like you’d expect it to work.

This particular head unit from Pioneer not only that is compatible with both systems, but it also supports the Alexa app for voice control using a digital assistant.

Vozsis is a smartphone app available for both iOS and Android OS devices that brings Amazon Alexa capability to compatible Weblink-enabled Pioneer multimedia in-dash receivers. Downloading both the Vozsis and Weblink applications makes using Alexa in your car simple – just tap-and-ask, and Alexa will respond instantly,” Pioneer explains.

The 7-inch display is large enough to run navigation app, and the built-in Bluetooth support means you can take calls and stream music without the need for running CarPlay or Android Auto on the screen.

What’s more, the Pioneer head unit also comes with a USB port and an AUX input in the back, while also supporting a back-up camera should your car have one.

Upgrading a Ford Fusion with this Pioneer head unit isn’t such a difficult thing to do, albeit you should pay for professional installation if you’re not sure you get the wiring right. There are lots of tutorials out there, so even the Average Joe should have no issue to install it.

As for the price, the Pioneer DMH-1500NEX is currently up for grabs from Amazon for just $260, so it’s one of the most affordable head units with CarPlay and Android Auto.
