The Ford Fusion is the new hot mid-size sedan in US’ coastal states, with dealers from New York, San Francisco, Miami and Los Angeles reporting sales have gone up at least 62 percent last month.
According to Automotive News, Fusion sales more than double in New York and San Francisco, while Miami and Los Angeles dealers announced increases of 62 percent and 77 percent respectively. “We are in a very hip market where people want to be driving the latest and the best. We’re trading people from Toyotas and Hondas,” said Miami-area Ford dealer Victor Benitez.
Overall Ford Fusion sales were up 71 percent last month, helping the Blue Oval company sell more Fusions in the first 10 months of the year than it did in all of 2012. While Fusion deliveries are still behind the Toyota Camry, Ford decision to increase production capacity by opening a new Fusion facility in Flat Rock could help the Detroit automaker close the gap on the Japanese manufacturer.
Ford sold 248,033 Fusions this year, while Toyota delivered 348,134 Camrys. The latter is the top-selling car in the United States for the last 11 years.
