We love a good Zetec engine as much as the next guy, but with the arrival of the brand new Focus ST just around the corner, we really doubted Ford’s wisdom when they announced a brand new Focus Zetec S today. However, we’re more than willing to listen since the Fiesta Zetec was such a cool little car.
Developed specifically for the UK market, the Focus Zetec S is available with a choice of four different engines and comes with a full body styling kit, 17in alloy wheels, sports suspension, rear LED tail lamps and sports pedals.
The car is already available today at dealerships across the UK in its five-door configuration, while an estate version (which you shouldn’t buy... please) will arrive in February. The engine that really jumps out is the new 1.6-liter EcoBoost that will also be introduced to the Fiesta ST next year. This has 180 horsepower and can launch the Focus in a worm hatch like 7.9 seconds to 62 mph (100 km/h).
The 1.6-liter 125PS Ti-VCT petrol and the 2.0-litre 163PS TDCi are also available and can be specified with either manual or PowerShift automatic transmission. Pricing wise, all Zetec S models are GBP1,250 more expensive than a regular Zetec, which is exactly the same as the Titanium trim level. So yo can either go sporty or go for luxury from now on when buying a brand new Focus.
