Ford Focus RS Unleased in Australia This Month

The Ford Focus RS is a vehicle that has rewritten the laws of the contemporary hot hatch segment, bringing the power battle to a new level and doing it in a totally insane front-wheel-drive way.

Now, it is (almost) time for Australian customers to enjoy the road charms of the Focus RS. Ford’s Australian division secured a total of 315 units of the beast, with each example set to retail for a Manufacturer’s List Price of AU$59,990. Customers will be able to enjoy their vehicles starting from the end of this month.

My team and I have received so many requests for this special model. When we announced we had secured 315 Focus RS models for Australia I think the inquiry rate doubled, such is the passion this car generates,” Ford Australia President and CEO Marin Burela said. "The buzz and excitement surrounding Focus RS has spread rapidly around the globe since it was introduced in Europe early last year, winning a host of motoring awards and receiving widespread critical acclaim for its outstanding combination of high-performance road car technology and every day Focus practicality."

"Now it is poised to conquer the Australia market, setting a new benchmark for hot hatch performance in this country and creating a whole new generation of performance car enthusiasts in the process," the executive explained.

We love to remind you that the Focus RS is powered by a turbocharged Duratec RS 2.5 liter powerplant that delivers 305 hp and a maximum torque of 440 Nm that is available starting from 2,300 rpm.

In order to tackle understeer, the vehicle is fitted with a unique sports suspension, incorporating the patented Ford RevoKnuckle, as well as with a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing Helical Limited Slip Differential.
