Ford Focus RS to Get Mountune Power Upgrade

Having witnessed the immense success of the recently released, extremely quickly sold RS500, American manufacturer Ford announced it has approved an upgrade for all now and existing RS owners, one that is provided by Mountune Performance. The Ford approval was needed so that the standard warranty is not affected.

“Ford’s relationship with Mountune has produced a series of dynamic performance upgrade packages for Ford models like the Focus ST and new Fiesta, and we are confident that the Focus RS package will prove equally successful,” says Matthias Tonn, Focus RS500 Chief Programme Engineer.

The performance upgrade increases the power output of the RS engine from 305 PS to 350 PS, while peak torque also jumps by 20 Nm to 460 Nm. The increase in power is achieved by modifying the engine with a larger intercooler, a larger air filter box, a larger diameter exhaust downpipe and an uprated fuel pump.

“While the limited edition RS500 we are unveiling at the Leipzig Show today will remain the ultimate Focus RS, this upgrade provides existing customers with the attractive Ford-approved performance enhancement option that many RS owners have been asking for.”

Mountune Performance will make the upgrade available through a selected network of Ford dealers, initially in the UK and later across Europe. The package intended for the RS is the only Ford-approved upgrade for the Focus RS and the only one which does not invalidate the standard Ford warranty.

In addition to the Focus RS, Mountune also offers upgrades for the Focus ST and Fiesta 1.6 Ti-VCT models, as well as for the previous-generation Fiesta ST.
