With all the commotion around the new Focus ST and its trick EcoBoost engine, we bet most of you forgot all about why the car that actually makes your hair stand on end when somebody says "cool Ford Focus".
The second generation Focus RS came out in 2009 and was a revolution. Through mystical performance and very low supply numbers, the 300+hp rocket gained a strong reputation, especially in Europe.

The bad news: you could only have it in a few colors, the most distinct of which was an automotive equivalent of the poison dart frog. For some, that just wasn't right, so this German gentleman decided his Focus RS needed to be… bright pink. The car spotted in the city of Leimbach is a major source of office giggles, but make no mistake, it's a beast underneath.

The funny thing is that our readers have assured us it belongs to a young mother. She deserves our respect for being able to take care of a child and still driving one of the coolest hatchbacks ever made.

With a turbocharger 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine under its bonnet, the Focus RS is not what you'd call a typical shopping cart. The front wheels cope with over 300 horsepower using a special limited slip diff and suspension setup. The turbo is so vicious that Ford engineers have had to corral some of the torque in first gear because the transmission couldn't cope.

By today's standards, the Focus RS is not that fast. Other models like the Mercedes A45 AMG can deliver 360 horsepower or more using smaller 2-liter turbo engines. However, we love the way the five-pot sounds.

In any case, this pink car has more curb appeal than other hatchbacks. Where a VW Golf R tries to be discrete, this has a giant wing and 20-inch wheels. It's not terribly impractical either, as the seats are comfortable, and the boot is spacious. Why doesn't everybody drive an RS?
