When engaging in a Nurburgring Touristenfahrten (Tourist Days) adventure, a fluid spill is one of the worst thing a driver can encounter.
While many Ring traps, from the traffic mayhem to the capricious weather, can be avoided, the slippery episodes can easily outweigh one's driving abilities.

But what if such a grip loss episode is caused by your car? Well, in such a case, the irony of the situation goes through the roof and the latest example of this was delivered by the Ring session that took place yesterday.

The unfortunate even involved a Ford Focus RS belonging to the first generation of the machine, with the hot hatch appearing to slip on its own fluid.

The two-liter turbo occupying the engine compartment of the Blue Oval machine decided to give up just as the car was negotiating the Brunnchen bend, which happens to be one of the trickiest on the track.

Nevertheless, the guy behind the wheel of the right-hand-drive RS showed respectable car control. The driver managed to manhandle the Focus into submission, eventually coming to a halt extremely close to the metallic element on the side of the track.

And once the hood was popped, the coolant issues of the Ford became obvious. We must keep in mind that the Mk I Focus RS is now fifteen years old, so we can expect such failures to take place.

Fortunately, it doesn't seem like the incident led to other drivers losing control of their vehicles.

If you happen to be in a hurry, make sure to jump to the 9:05 point of the clip for the Focus RS action discussed above. Nevertheless, you should know that the rest of the clip also packs a few attention-worthy moments, which will give you a pretty good idea of what happens during such a Nordschleife public session.
