The old-generation Ford Fiesta is not dead, as it has lived on through the ‘Figo’, a car which first made its debut in 2010. It is built in Chennai, India and is sold throughout the major ‘developing markets’. Now, the car has received its first update, since its launch, to keep it fresh for the 2013 model-year.
The exterior gets a mildly-refreshed front bumper and hood designs, while both the car’s grilles are also redesigned, to bring the car closer to the current Ford family face. It also gets redesigned eight-spoke alloys in Ambiente trim level, while Trend brings a new style of rims, as well.
Under the bonnet, it retains the two engines it was launched with: a 1.4-liter petrol unit, with 83 hp, and a 1.4-liter diesel unit, with 70 hp. The petrol engine returns a reasonable 6.6 l/100km (42.8 UK mpg), while the diesel manages 5.3 l/100km.
Even entry level cars get ABS, EBD and PATS (Passive Anti-Theft System) as standard, as well as a total of four airbags. The facelifted model has now been introduced to the South African market, but others will follow soon.
