Ford Figo Full Details and Photos Released

Although the Ford Figo has been revealed for quite some time, the Indian built car has not been completely detailed by the manufacturer until yesterday, when the local website of the American manufacturer opened the flood doors and unleashed the vehicle which will certainly become a hit.

As already revealed, the Figo will be powered by Ford's 1.4l Duratorq common rail diesel engine, as well as by a 1.2l petrol SEFI one purpose-built for the Figo. The diesel outputs 69 PS at 4,000 rpm, while the petrol engine develops 71 PS at 6,250 rpm. Both come equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission.

On the exterior, Ford's kinetic design cues can be wrapped in a choice of seven colors: Squeeze, Diamond White, Panther Black, Chill, Colorado Red, Moondust Silver and Sea Grey. Only two color choices will be available for the interior.

Infotainment in the Figo is insured by using an MP3 music player, with incorporated Radio Data System (RDS) and Plug&Play port for the iPod. The only thing similar to an on-board computer is the Distance-to-Empty display, which lets the driver know in how many miles the car will run out of fuel.

Safety wise, the Figo is built under "rigorous safety testing conditions and packed with the Ford guarantee of advanced safety."

The Figo entered production in the beginning of February at the American manufacturer's Chennai India plant, six months after Alan Mulally, Ford CEO, unveiled the car. Ford hopes to make the Figo a hit and turn the Ford from "a niche player in India to vehicle for the masses."
