Ford owners in Bulgaria managed to break a Guinness World Record held by their American counterparts.
Officially named the "Longest Queue of Ford Vehicles in the World," the feat was set by Bulgarian Ford owners. The record has already been homologated by Guinness representatives, and was set on June 4, 2016, on a highway.
Over 2,300 Ford vehicles were present at the event, but not all of them were included in the record, as some of the cars were not homologated in the proper category for records of this kind.
So, the final number of the record is 1,527 vehicles that formed the longest organized queue of Ford cars in the world, which is impressive.
To achieve a record like this, the organizers had to close a major section of the highway, and all the vehicles had to pass through a two-mile (3.2-kilometre) section. The entire queue of Ford cars had a length of approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles).
The event was organized by Moto-Pfohe BG, near Sofia, Bulgaria. On a funnier note, we thought they could have set another world record on Saturday with just a tap of the brakes and a little distraction, resulting in the world’s largest fender-bender.
This type of achievement is not the first of its kind. The previously accredited record for Ford cars in an orderly queue was set in the United States of America in 2014, with just 829 vehicles.
Meanwhile, the largest parade of Mini cars was organized in 2009 and consisted of 1,450 Minis. Fiat 500 owners set a similar record with 500 Fiat cars on the same road in 2006, and it was organized by the Fiat 500 Club Italia.
Interestingly, other record holders managed to gather more exclusive vehicles to events like this, for the longest parade of Porsche cars in the world, a record set on May 1, 2008, in Germany, with 2,325 Porsches. This year, Toyota set a Guinness World Record for the most vehicles in a hybrid parade with just 332 Prius models. As we mentioned when they set this record, we still think it could easily be broken without too much effort.
