Ford Falcon XR8 to Return in 2014

Although Ford has yet to unveil actual details of the car, the 2014 Falcon XR8 is likely to arrive with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 455 horsepower. The new XR8 will be based on the upcoming facelifted Falcon and sold until 2016, when Ford Australia ceases all operations.

“We have received a lot of interest and continued requests from Falcon fans to bring back the XR8. Re-introducing the XR8 sedan, packaged in our updated Falcon, will make our renowned locally-engineered and manufactured V8 engine available to a broader group of people,” said Ford Australia vice president of marketing Graeme Whickman.

In related news, Ford also revealed plans to host a series of actions next year to “ensure the final FPV models celebrate the brand’s iconic status.”
