The latest "Earth-hugging" development comes from Altech-Eco Corporation (based in Asheville, North Carolina) who announced that it has obtained Certificate of Conformity (COC) from the EPA for their Compress Natural Gas (CNG) bi-fueled & dedicated conversion systems, dedicated to the 2010 Ford F-250 and F-350 models.
The converted vehicles can run on 100 percent natural gas or can operate as a Bi-Fuel version, a mode that enables them to run on either natural gas or gasoline. In this mode, the vehicles offer a driving range of 500 miles and allow the driver to instantly switch between the two fuels by using a dashboard button.
The EPA has issued Altech-Eco four separate certificates for the Ford F-250 and F-350 for their Dedicated versions (the trucks that operate only on CNG). The models benefit from a $8,000 Federal Tax Credit, upon purchase.
“Every energy company, utility company and heavy industry in America has been clamoring for this technology for years, and we are proud to have received the EPA Certification for the best pickup trucks in the world, the Ford F-250 and F-350 Trucks," said Miles George, VP of Altech-Eco. "And for companies wanting the Dedicated version, their wish is also granted, with the added plus of an $8,000 Federal Tax Credit."
Alter-Echo’s EPA approved F-Series conversions protect the powerplants, as they do not require drilling into the engine manifold. This is why the company’s systems are approved as aftermarket conversion facilities and are available at certain Ford dealerships.
