Ford F-150 Raptures Customers, Orders Exceed Expectations

A very pleased American manufacturer Ford announced in the beginning of the weekend the new F-150 SVT Raptor has managed to exceed all their expectations in terms of customer success, with no less than 5,300 orders placed so far.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the popularity of the F-150 SVT Raptor,” Mark Grueber, F-150 Marketing manager said in a release. “Orders have exceeded our expectations.”

“The truck is so popular that we actually wound up building more 5.4-liter V-8 models than we had originally anticipated. The order banks are now open for the all-new 6.2-liter V-8, and the orders keep rolling in.”

Named the 2009 Truck of Texas by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) back in October last year, the Raptor is powered by a 5.4l Triton V8 three-valve engine, capable of releasing a maximum power of 320 hp and 390 lb.-ft of torque.

An even more powerful, 6.2l V8 engine is scheduled to be introduced in the near future with improved performances. According to Ford, the engine is undergoing "intense, cruel, dusty and dirty testing," to see how the 400 hp and 400 lb.-ft of torque behave.

According to Ford, customers prefer their Raptors in Tuxedo Black (52 percent), followed by Molten Orange, Oxford White and Blue Flame. As for options, the F-150 offers the luxury package, moonroof and reverse camera (ordered by 79 percent of customers), while the touch-screen navigation with SIRIUS Travel Link was appealing to some 62 percent of those ordering a new Raptor.
