Ford Explorer Reinvented in LEGO Bricks

The internet is littered with interesting LEGO projects that range from TV characters, to old battleships from the past and even some from the futuristic Star Wars universe. However, it takes a lot of patience, some 380,000 individual bricks and the magic of time lapse to impress us.
We’re of course talking about the 2012 Ford Explorer that you see in the video above and which was built to celebrate the alliance between Ford and the LEGOLAND Florida theme park.

This LEGOLAND Florida edition Explorer, as it’s called, was put together by 22 esigners who used more than 380,000 LEGO bricks.

Thought plastics were lighter than metal? Not if you have to make extra thick walls like these fine folks did. The end result weights almost as much as the real deal - a staggering 2,654 pounds (1,204 kg) - so it’s probably to heavy to play with.

“Ford is excited to support the alliance between LEGOLAND Florida and the Southeast Ford dealers,"
said Tracy Magee, Ford Experiential Marketing manager. "The LEGOLAND Florida Explorer and the Ford Driving School attraction are great opportunities to showcase our products and safety messages to families and visitors in a unique way.”

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
