Ford is rumored to make full use of the recently-presented 2.0 liter 237 hp Ecoboost petrol engine. The unit, which has been introduced on the facelifted version of the Mondeo, might also be installed in the Galaxy and S-Max MPVs, as autocar reports.
Company insiders have told the aforementioned source that the top of the range petrol powerplant may be found under the hood of the Galaxy and S-Max models in the future.
The carmaker is currently evaluating the market, in oder to see if there would be a demand for such high powered people carriers. However, the introduction of the unit on the aforementioned models wouldn’t require a massive investemnt, as the two MPVs share the platform with the Mondeo. The Mondeo, Galaxy and S-Max are also manufactured together, coming to the world via Ford's Genk production site, which is located in Belgium.
The new engine has been enginnered to deliver a high level of performance, delivering hefty power and torque figures while offering the same level of emissions as its 200 hp version - Ford claims the fresh unit emits just 179 grams of CO2 per km.

But the upcoming mad Focus hatch won’t just use the combustion unit, it will also add an electric motor that will bring the power up and increase efficiency.
