Partly designed by Ford Australia designers, the Escort was unveiled at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show as a ready-to-go in production sedan, that may be a key contender in the Chinese market by 2015, becoming an affordable yet stylish designed vehicle.

The new Escort combines a distinct design with functionality, roominess and fuel economy performances, not neglecting overall safety and build quality. Design wise, the C-segment sedan features an amalgam of design cues including Ford’s stylish hexagonal grille, flanked by LED headlights, chrome trimmings and pillarless side windows, all going along with a robust body desighn.

“By listening to our customers in China, we have developed the Ford Escort Concept to serve a new class of compact car customers,” said Ford’s executive vice president of global marketing, sales and service. “These are customers whose needs are not being completely met by existing compact cars. They are discerning, modern families, who want uncompromised functionality, quality and safety for themselves and the ones they care about.”

The unveiling of the Escort Concept is Ford’s latest example its commitment to China, and follows the recent introduction of the new Mondeo at Auto Shanghai 2013, and the latest launches of the all-new EcoSport and Kuga crossovers.
